Kiel Laboe 23 25 august

The German dinghy sailor Carl Obst. In 1931 he was one of the 23 German dinghy sailors at Kiel and defeated three excellent Dutch dinghy sailors: Bohre, Jan Maas and Hin. The newspapers in Germany were very proud: "Deutschland schlagt Holland im Busley - erinnerungspreis".

„Oskar Preis“ for the youngest helmsman or woman.
„Antonia Preis“ for the oldest helmsman or woman.

Friday evening a fun regatta will be organised for the crew of the Big Boats, so they can get a feeling how a real classic dinghy has to be sailed. The 12 footdinghy is an important part of the German classics program

Region north meeting

A lot of people have visited the social meeting of the twaalfvoetsjollenclub region North at 23 March 2013. Region chairman Sjouke Dijkstra has explained the regatta schedule 2013: the national and the international one.

Le Lac d Ailette 4 and 5 May

The first friendship regatta will be organised 4 and 5 May in France at Lac d'Ailette, near Reims. The event in 2012 was a big succes, see the picture.
The event is open for classic wood, modern wood and modern plastic dinghies. Because the differences between the three kind of dinghies are becoming bigger and bigger, separated starts and separated results will be described in the NOR. The first start is booked for the original classic wooden dinghies, the second start for the fast modern wooden and modern plastic dinghies.
If there are less then 5 modern wooden and plastic dinghies one start will be organised, how ever in any case separated results between the two groups.

Bootsschuppen Germany

Boatyard Bootsschuppen in Flensburg, Germany is building a classic 12foot dinghy. Dinghy sailor Wim Broer has sold a second hand sail to the builder Stephane Lainez. Beautiful pictures of the building process....German professionals!!

Japan

Many years Japannese dinghy sailors have visited the Kaag friendship regattas. See the picture.
The Japannese dinghy class organisation invite you to participate 21-23 June at INAGE/CHIBA Pefectur in Japan. Mr.Kunio ISHIBASHI is the new chairman. Mr. Noriko EHARA would be happy to help dinghy sailors from Europe to visit Japan and enjoying perfect holidays. The dinghy event is organised by CHIBA University's Old Boys.
The Dutch dinghy sailors Jan de Vreede and Hans Reyers have visited Japan in the past and are able to give you background information.

Bemannings licentie

In de strijd tegen doping en natuurlijk ook om de slechte financiele positie van het watersportverbond wat op te krikken, is besloten dat er een bemannings licentie komt. Dat kost weer geld. Het is jammer dat klassenorganisaties nog steeds geen enkele formele invloed hebben bij het watersportverbond. Het Engelse watersportverbond heeft dat veel beter geregeld, de RYA kent daarbij een grens van 30 leden. Daarboven zijn er allerlei voordelen. Hadden wij dat maar. Op de blog van deze URL kun je je mening geven. Op de facebook site Twaalfvoetsjollenclub kun je ook aangeven hoe je hierover denkt en kun je het bestuur advies geven hoe te handelen in de bijzondere situatie van de bemanning in een 12voetsjol.

Boot Holland

The Twaalfvoetsjollenclub is looking for young and enthusiast dinghy sailors and has found one in the exhibition Boot Holland at Leeuwarden.

New classic dinghies

Boatbuilder Stephen Beresford from England has built this winter a new classic dinghy. His company is Good Wood Boat Company



Jeroen de Groot, a boatbuilder and one of the best sailors in the Netherlands, has also built a new classic dinghy. His company is jachtbouw de Groot

The official 2013 dutch regatta schedule

The Dutch Twaalfvoetsjollenclub has three regions: North, West and Loosdrecht. All regattas are regional regatta's, nobody likes to travel a lot. There are four exceptions, these are the national class events where every Dutch dinghy sailor should be:

1. Kaag, Kagerplassen 18-20 May, class event of the region West
2. GWS, Pikmeer 14-15 september, class event of the region North
3. Houtskoolcup, Loosdrechtse plassen, 5-6 october, class event of the region Loosdrecht
4. Dutch open championship, Loosdrechtse plassen, 26-28 July 2013,

If you are a foreigner and you want to participate, you need:

• a wooden dinghy with a Dutch measurement certificate
• a membership of a Dutch sailing club
• a starting license of the Dutch watersportverbond
• membership of the Twaalfvoetsjollenclub is not mandatory

Total costs of measurement certificate, starting license and membership of a dutch sailing club, about 100 euro per year. Sent an email and we will help you with the administration.
Kaag is the international dinghy event of the Netherlands. The Watersportverbond has given a dispensation: dinghy sailors from other countries with a classic wooden dinghy and a measurement certificate of their national authority are allowed to participate. Three loan boats are available.
