Dinghy sailor of the month: Hans Nieuwland on his way to the starting line at the Sneekermeer in his dinghy NED468, named Piraat and built in 1943 by the boatyard van de Stadt. Hans don't like any modernization of the Dutch dinghy and was glad that the meeting in January has given clearness about the classic course of the Twaalfvoetsjollenclub. He is one of the best sailors in the region West and also in the Netherlands. Every month from now on, a blog item with the dinghy sailor of the month with a brief story about the sailor and his dinghy. Send me your nominations.

Drawings Dutch 12foot dinghy

You want to build a 12foot dinghy by yourself and need the drawings. The Dutch watersportverbond is selling them. You can order the drawings of the 12foot dinghy (in dutch 12voetsjol) by sending an email to Mrs. Denise Willaarts secretary watersportverbond. The price is 60 euro for members of a Dutch sailing club. Other people have to pay 90 euro. After paying, the watersportverbond will sent the drawings to your home address. Besides the drawings you need the Dutch national class rules 2012 bouwvoorschriften2012. It is written in Dutch. In the past we have translated this document in the English lanquage. Kaag 18 20 May

The Kaag is the dinghy event in the Netherlands, where 50 dinghies start together. More then 40 years a famous event. You will see at the Kaag cows and windmills. All dinghies in the Netherlands have the same speed, expensive materials are not allowed. Foreign dinghy sailors with a Dutch measurement certificate are welcome. If you have a measurement certificate of your own country and your dinghy is according to the Dutch classic policy, sent an email to Anjo Klinkenberg or Karel de Boer. This event is one of the four friendship regatta's. An event where you met your friends and can talk about the mutual hobby. The dinner on Saturday evening in the Kaag Societeit is famous.
