België verslag 2021

Reinhard Schroeder uit Duitsland wint de Friendship series in België op het Lac de l'Eau d'Heure (LEH). Jolzeilers uit 4 landen namen 23-24 oktober deel op het grootste stuwmeer van Belgie, vlakbij de Franse grens bij de plaats Cerfontaine. Zie hier de uitslagen. Tijdens het weekend zijn 3 klassen van start gegaan: de OK jol, Euromoth en de International 12 foot dinghy (12voetsjol). Er zijn 7 wedstrijden verzeild: 3 op de zaterdag en 5 op de zondag waarbij de wind voornamelijk zwak was uit uiteenlopende richtingen. Een trapezium vormige op-en-neer baan zorgde ervoor dat de drie klassen niet in elkaars vaarwater kwamen. Een minpunt vond ik persoonlijke het grote aantal wedstrijden: Het is de mode, maar het kost wel erg veel tijd tussen de wedstrijden. Zaterdag avond was er een gezamenlijk diner met traditie getrouw muziek van Rod Andrews (zie video in het foto album), een Engelse OK zeiler. Tijdens de prijsuitreiking heeft Reinhard Schroeder de vrijwilligers van de zeilvereniging SNEH bedankt voor de prima organisatie. Chimay bier wordt in de omgeving gebrouwd en alle prijswinnaar gingen dan ook met een fles naar huis.

Kosten: inschrijfgeld 25 euro. Diner zaterdagavond 25 euro. Betalen bij de inschrijving via een creditcard of een overboeking is verplicht.
Bij het clubhuis van de SNEH kan in de auto of camper worden overnacht. Huur je liever een huisje of hotel. Geja heeft adressen verzameld. zie logeeradressen. Tip: zoek elkaar op en huur gezamenlijk een huisje, wel zo goedkoop en gezellig. Stuur een email naar Pieter Bleeker voor bemiddeling.
De wedstrijden zijn open voor OK jollen, Europe en International 12 foot dinghies. Tijdens het diner is er altijd live muziek door de Engelse OK zeiler en zanger Rod Andrew. Ostend report

In the photo: Martin Trompert taking third place during the Olympic Centennial 2021 in Ostend. First place went to Wim Bleeker and second to Pieter Bleeker. Despite Covid restrictions, 14 participants from France, Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany took part in the first Friendship series of competitions of the 2021 season. The Spuikom in Ostend is a small but excellent competition water. The North Sea is too dangerous for the dinghy, as was proven in 1920 Olympic Sailing. An excellent committee, led by the experienced Dirk Sledgens, guided us through a perfect event. The mild weather specialists were able to enjoy themselves. On Saturday, the chairman of the (Belgian) Twaalfvoetsjollenclub Philippe Royaux had organized a cozy BBQ lunch in the most beautiful beach bar in Ostend. And Saturday evening saw a dinner at the Royal North Sea Yacht Club. pictures speak volumes. The full results are also in the photo album.

Frans de Bot (left) formed an excellent team together with the Belgian Christel. A video of Reinhard Schroeder gives an impression of the matches. Alix Noel has published several videos on her facebook site .

Op de foto: Martin Trompert behaalde de derde plaats tijdens de Olympic Centennial 2021 in Oostende. Eerste Wim Bleeker en tweede Pieter Bleeker. Ondanks de Corona maatregelen namen toch 14 deelnemers uit Frankrijk, Belgie, Nederland en Duitsland deel aan de eerste Friendship serie wedstrijden van het seizoen 2021. De centennial is de herdenking dat ruim 100 jaar geleden de Olympische spelen zijn verzeild in Oostende en dat de 12voetsjol toen ook al present was. De Spuikom in Oostende is een klein maar prima wedstrijdwater. De Noordzee is voor de jol te gevaarlijk, wat in 1920 ook wel bleek. In totaal zijn 4 van de geplande 6 wedstrijden verzeild. Een prima comittee o.l.v de ervaren Dirk Sledgens nam telkens de jusite beslissingen. De zachtweer specialisten konden zich uitleven. Op de zaterdag had de voorzitter van de (Belgische) Twaalfvoetsjollenclub Philippe Royaux een gezellige BBQ georganiseerd in de mooiste strandtent van Oostende. Zaterdag was er een diner in de Royal North Sea Yacht Club. De foto's spreken boekdelen. De volledige uitslag staat ook in het foto album. Frans de Bot (links) vormde samen met de Belgische Christel een uitstekend team.

Oostende 10-11 juli

De Belgische gastheer en voorzitter Philippe Royaux toont de hoofdprijs van de Centennial 2021.

100 jaar na de Olympische spelen van 1920 weer jollen in Oostende. It giet oan: Veel corona maatregelen zijn versoepeld, de Centennial Oostende 2021 zal 10-11 juli worden verzeild. Inschrijven gaat via manage2sail. Zie de Belgische uitnodiging. En de NOR. Op de website van de Belgische klassenorganisatie is alle informatie te vinden. Ook van de historie!!. De Kopenhagen rules zijn van toepassing, d.w.z. alleen klassieke jollen in de geest van de Nederlandse klassenvoorschriften kunnen inschrijven. Een Nederlands certificaat is geen vereiste. Ook oude jollen, die in Nederland niet meer in aanmerking komen voor een Nederlands certificaat kunnen meedoen. In Oostende zal niet op de Noordzee worden gevaren, dat is te gevaarlijk. De spuikom in Oostende is voor de jollen een prima wedstrijdwater. Het Belgische wedstrijdcomite o.l.v. de ervaren Dirk Sledsens heeft internationale ervaring, een goede wedstrijd organisatie is gegarandeerd.
Voor campers is er ruimte bij de vereniging WOS. Voor alle overige onderdak zie lodging document 2020. Het Europe hotel heeft een speciale aanbieding. Vermeld bij inschrijving “Centennial van de Olympische Spelen 1920 NE zeilen”.

Spuikom Oostende. De WOS is de organiserende vereniging. Het adres: WOS Vicognedijk 30 8400 Oostende T: +32 493 82 52 83. Inschrijfgeld 60 euro (tot 30 juni, daarna 80 euro). Vrijdagavond een BBQ en zaterdag een diner. Drankjes worden gesponsord door Marina Yachting center.

Having sailed some racing classes for several entire seasons, some others incidentally, and having met sailors with experience in classes I never sailed, I tend to think there is something special in sailing the International 12 Friendship Series, and that something is why this has become my way to enjoy racing. What is it? Is it the total absence of nervous concentration and relaxed common joy while preparing for the race? Is it that falling short of right-of-way rules one apologizes and patiently bears any wit the victim manages to produce? Never a protest? No disappointed losers complaining about a skewed playfield due to differences in boat quality? That if wind requires more live weight, you join the race with two? Is it the recognition of sailors finishing in the fore-field with very old dinghies? The quality of jokes cracked and songs sung on the after-race parties? We all like to win, we all run to the news-board if results are said to hang. But joking that you want to “beat bloody Pieter Bleeker” does not go with low voice claims that his boat has illegal features that make it faster and what else you hear in more pretentious racing events. That is because we are no ape rock crammed with low intelligent ego’s, you know, the kinds that keep up their social ranking by barking like bloodhounds. This is also reflected in how we organise our races. Everybody can take an initiative and we don’t have an official organisation with officially defined official officers. We just have each other’s emails and phone numbers. And it works. Yes! That’s it. We are no longer an Olympic class, we are even kicked off the IYRU list in 1963 and we’re proud to still, half a century later, flourish. We love to win, but even more we love our old boats, that played such a glorious role in the history of racing. And we love our company. It may have been of help that we chose for international sailing. This attracts sailors interested to meet people different from their home neighbours, see venues different from their home race waters and not afraid to stutter and gesture in foreign speech, although I admit the Irish and the Frisians do not work enough on each other’s language. I hate to say that especially the Gaelic of the Frisians is as yet substandard. Nowadays many Frisians resist the use of Dutch, so they have enough spare time to learn a decent language. Hearing their own, you know they have the talent, so our future is bright!

We are living in a time that is constrained and missing many ‘normal things’. Because of COVID-19 we miss the sailing and socialising that our regattas across Europe and other continents gave us. Socializing in the Yacht Clubs is important to us. The discussions, the help, the sharing and the information and the friendship were difficult in the last year but we managed. We kept in touch with nearly everybody becoming more reliant and dependent upon digital alternatives; Facebook, Whatsapp, websites, blogs, mail, newsletters and telephone.

To give you an oversight of our multi-media channels:

Facebook: We have two facebook pages; “Twaalfvoetsjollenclub” and “The Fleet" that focus upon the International 12 Foot Dinghy.
The founder of the Facebook group “ Twaalfvoetsjollenclub” on the 19th of September 2012 was Pieter Bleeker as a private person. Its popularity can be measured by the number of members all over the world ( 310-320). It is an unofficial FB group with just one goal, ‘ Strengthening the contact of ALL owners of a 12 foot dinghy’. Anyone can become a member who is fond of the classic wooden 12 Foot Dinghy. It caters to competitive sailor and the very important recreational sailor. Foreign dinghy friends are also invited for a membership in combination with a membership of the International 12 Association.
“The Fleet”; the international 12 Foot Dinghy Fleet, founded on 21 October 2018 by Bert Hamminga is the Facebook group of the International 12 Association. It deals exclusively with the Cockshott BRA 1913 “A” Class alias International 12 Foot Dinghy. Also a popular Facebook page with 150 members world wide. Unfortunately Bert Hamminga passed away 16 April 2021. It is not clear whether the “Fleet” Facebook page can stay active because Bert was the only administrator of this Facebook group. How will it continue? The Facebook group “Twaalfvoetsjollenclub” remains as a platform for current members. Should we think about integrating both Facebook pages into one with a new name? We probably have to make a decision quickly. We will keep you all informed but please be aware that changes will occur and soon. To stay in contact with the other members please sign up asap to the facebook group “Twaalfvoetsjollenclub” to ensure our data base is complete. "Twaalfvoetsjollenclub" will get a new name this year. MS-Team meetings: In 2020, due to the Corona restrictions, we started to facilitate the possibility of meeting each other digitally. We called it webinars for International 12 Foot Dinghies. Members of the WhatsAppgroup mentioned above are invited to participate in these webinars. Members can give a presentation about an interesting subject concerning the sailing of an International 12 Foot Dinghy. To date there were 8 webinars, one of which was international. The webinars are intended for the winter season, normally on the second Monday of the month. The webinars were started by Pieter Bleeker and Bert Bos in September 2020. Members are invited to submit an idea or a topic for presentation and Webinar discussion.

Op zaterdag 6 april liet de wind verstek gaan en kon er geen geldige wedstrijd worden gevare. Ondanks twee pogingen van het deskundige Duitse wedstrijdcomite. Op de zondag was er een windkracht 2 tot 4. Erik van der Meer was in topvorm en won overtuigend. Bert Bos mooi tweede. Hier de uitslagen

Friendshipseries Kopenhagen 18-22 sept

De Turkse laserkampioen Anil Cetin (22) achtervolgt Wim Bleeker (53) tijdens de Vintage Yachting Games voor de kust van Kopenhagen met windsterkte 22 knopen. In totaal hadden 19 deelnemers uit 9 verschillende landen ingeschreven 18-22 september voor de reunie van oud-Olympische klassen. De 12voetsjol was in 1920 en 1928 Olympisch. Wim Bleeker werd in Kopenhagen eerste en kreeg een prijs met de namen van de winnaars van 1920 en 1928 ingegraveerd. Anil Cetin de zilveren medaille en Hans Reijers brons. Naast de international 12 foot dinghy, kwamen ook de Solings en de O-jollen aan de start.

Friendshipseries Belgium 27-28 Oktober

De laatste internationale wedstrijden van het seizoen 2018 worden georganiseerd op het grootste meer van Belgie: Lac l'Eau d'Heure, nabij Cerfontaine. Het adres: Rue de Oupia 4 bte 1, 6440 Froidchapelle, Belgium. Zie google maps en bereken de afstand in kilometers vanaf je huis adres.
Het zijn gezamenlijke wedstrijden met de OK jollen. De foto´s uit 2017 geven een indruk van het wedstrijdwater en de goede sfeer.
Inschrijven kan via de plaatselijke zeilclub SNEH. Klik op Oct 27 en daarna kun je je inschrijven. Er is al veel belangstelling.
In 2017 hadden we last van veel wind, maar normaal gesproken is het ongeveer bft 2 tot 3. Ideaal jollenweer.
Het clubhuis van de SNEH is verwarmd en wordt bediend door vrijwilligers van de club.
Zaterdagavond is er een gezamenlijk diner met de OK jol zeilers en muziek. Een filmpje van de muzikale OK jol zeilers en een saxofoon solo van een bekende 12voetsjol zeiler.
Tijdens de Friendshipseries is het gebruikelijk gezamenlijk een huis te huren. Wel zo goedkoop. Zoek elkaar op en maak afspraken. In dit document vind je alle accomodaties in de buurt van Lac L'Eau d'Heure. De parkeerplaats is gratis toegankelijk voor campers. In de auto slapen doen ook veel zeilers tegenwoordig. Geen probleem in Belgie.
Zoek je iemand die perfect Frans spreekt: Neem contact op met Jurri Rooyakkers, Bert Hamminga of Fred Udo.
De CWC organisatie rekent weer op een grote deelname van houten 12voetsjollen (Engels: International 12 foot dinghy) in de klassieke stijl.
